It's That Time! Prepping for Market Season...

Any market vendor can tell you that even thought the market season doesn't start until May, the season for us vendors starts waaaaaay before that when we start figuring out what we're going to be creating and selling for the season.  So I've been asking vendors, what are YOU doing to get ready for the market season?

Jen Bennett, the handstitching genius behind sweetest pea's "Fat Creations" is actually cooking up a whole new line of stuffed creations, with illustrator Brian Gubicza.  The collaboration has been lovingly named Dr. Perfect and the fruits are just starting to make their appearance online--and they'll be making a home at the South End Open Market this season!

Important Updates for Jewelry Vendors

This is our 5th year, and as the Market continues to grow in popularity the demand for vendor space increases—which is fantastic.  A full parking lot means more selection for shoppers, which helps keep them coming back.  This definitely means, however, that if you are hoping to sell jewelry at the market, you'll need to act quick and get your application in as soon as possible!

To our jewelry vendors: 
As you know, you are members of an extremely competitive category for artisan markets, and the South End Open Market--and its sister markets--are no exception.

Ideally we’d love to include every last one of you—we get a ton of applications from very talented jewelry creators.  Unfortunately, we also get feedback from both vendors AND customers, that limiting the number of jewelry vendors is actually better for everyone involved.

So here’s where the jewelry situation stands right now.

• Get your application in IMMEDIATELY if you’re hoping to participate this season...even if you're a market veteran.

• Opening Weekend, and all of June are now FULL for jewelers (there is still plenty of space for other mediums)

• There is STILL ROOM for jewelry in July, Aug, Sept and Oct., but they are filling fast

• Please try not to get frustrated, we are doing the best we can to accommodate everyone that we have space for.  Honestly, we’re happier when vendors are happy—we’ll do whatever is reasonable to make that happen.

So get your applications in...!  We’d love to be able to have you be a part of the Market’s 5th season!

Now Accepting Applications for the Providence Open Market

We are excited to announce that not only will the Providence Open Market be back for a second season, but we’ve also been busy forming community partnerships, brainstorming new ideas and changing our format up a bit – all to bring you a Market that is a destination event within the community of Providence.

This year we are in a new, high profile location – directly on Westminster St.! Each week the City of Providence will close Westminster St. from Clemence St. to Eddy St. for our use.

Also new this year is the division of the Market into two seasons – Fall and Spring, each with a new set of hours.

Spring Market
Open every Saturday from May 31st through June 28th. 
Hours of operation: 12pm – 6pm.

Fall Market
Open every Saturday from September 6th through October 25th.
Hours of operation: 12pm – 5pm.
