Tomoko of TADworks takes a great pleasure in delighting both kids and adults with her little creatures and original goods. She enjoys working with different materials that are familiar to her (paper, clay, wool etc.) while keeping doors open for new materials and possibilities. She treats each of her ideas with care as they truly are her life's fuel.

This spring, she has proudly introduced a new addition to her goods called CANendar (upcycled dial calendar can).

Tomoko received BA in cultural geography and BFA in graphic design some years ago. She lives in Boston area with her husband and her feisty little bird, Ms.
B. She looks forward to her days at SOWA Open Market, being out there under sunny sky (hopefully!).

aceCaps are unique reversible hats that look equally handsome with skirts, trousers and knickers. Bi-coastal, they were born in Seattle, Washington, and continue to be made in Attleboro, Massaschusetts.

Ace is a student of library and information science who has been reading since she was four years old and sewing since she was ten. Her inspiration comes from fabric (especially prints that look like they come from her grandmother's time, or could be boxer-short material); color (after a long-standing love affair with shades of lime green, goldenrod yellow seems to be moving in as a favorite); and her friends and family (who have proven that aceCaps really do look good on everybody). When she's not making hats or studying, ace loves to knit and plans to put her own aceCap to good use under a helmet while bicycling this summer.

Amy Berkowitz is a ceramic artist from the Boston area and is a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art. She recently opened Artifaktori, a small store in Somerville, MA, that seeks to offer a unique mixture of treasure and curiosity, specializing in new and vintage art, antiques, and vintage clothing. Amy is glad to be a part of the Somerville/Davis sq. community but moonlights at the SOWA Open Market whenever possible sharing her vintage clothing and other funky artifacts.

CMYK, known in some circles as “Kick Your Mother Collective,” is a group of five independent Boston artists currently living in overly romanticized squalor. And we’re okay with that. Our talents are diverse- we paint, we photograph, we stencil, we draw, we sew. We create. Our goal: self-promotion, self-reliance, giving art back to the people and eventually, global domination.

But back to our current mission, we have decided that the time has come to overthrow the establishment and thus, The Man himself. Down with large wholesale chains, and up with small business and handmade goods. Take down that mass-produced, store-bought Thomas Kinkade color copy over your sofa, and replace it with a unique, sophisticated and affordable original art piece, which will appreciate in value even when the Dow Jones doesn’t.

Erin Moran is a self-taught potter. Having used her hands in a variety of ways she settle on clay 8 years ago. The past 2 1/2 years she has worked with clay as a full time potter and currently has work in many galleries around the country.

Her work stretches in a lot of directions, from sculptural to functional to wearable. All of her work is hand built. It is inspired by nature while influenced by both modern and folk art. The tactile aspect of her work makes it irresistible.
